Lone Pine Pottery

For years I have been intriqued with the steps involved in making pottery; in taking the raw materials used in the process, combining them, molding them, making it my own and creating a piece that is artistic and beautiful and completely functional. For someone to use with love.

My fascination with pottery started in the early 70’s when I stumbled into The Pot Shop, a small retail pottery shop just off Upper Lonsdale in North Vancouver, BC. It continued with the gift of a pair of hand thrown gas fired mugs from a dear friend in 1980. I really wanted to be able to create what she had given me…and a teapot or two as well! The dye was set when I discovered a venue and a means to learn the craft only minutes from my then home in Coquitlam, BC. Place des Arts was where the life long search to learn the craft began in earnest back in 1990. With the assistance of various teachers through various classes and various pottery guilds over the years, I have managed to develop my own skills and glazes to where I feel comfortable with my art. I am always searching though, never completely satisfied, looking for that perfect shape with that perfect glaze. I am now set up in my “forever” studio on Brule Mountain just outside the beautiful little town of Sooke, BC on Vancouver Island. I live and create amongst huge cedar trees and beautiful gardens. The perfect setting for the search to continue.
